exhaust upgrade

I want to upgrade my 86n/a stock exhaust , the easisest, simplest, upgrade. I looked under car and only have 2nd pre-converter and main cat. converter with stock duals out the back, stock manifold. I want to do this and some other stuff by the 21st.

Well, the easiest upgrade would prob be a midpipe of some sort to eliminate the cats. If your tight on money you can get the bonez cat replacement pipe from www.rx7.com. Be warned though, it is fairly cheaply made and will warp over time causing an exhaust leak. Also, it wont operate the aux ports in a low backpressure setup if you upgrade the catback. If you want to do it right, get the racing beat downpipe(or header) and presilencer and the catback of your choice. Replacing the whole exhaust system is actually fairly easy to do and can be done in a day with no problem. It all depends on how much money you want to spend.

hey thanx sideways7. that's all i needed, just have to pull up funds and shop. wher,s the best price for rb header/pipes?

Just buy from Racing Beat directly.

For a cheap and loud upgrade I'de go with:
Bonez "Race" Pipe
Corksport or Apexi N1 single cat-back

or

Racing Downpipe (or Header) and presilencer with:
Apexi N1 cat-back
Corksport cat-back
Borla Cat-back

The list goes on and on.

as always...rob votes for borla!

Well, if you are going to get a good cat-back, basically the only thing that will keep the aux ports operational is the RB header/downpipe with presilencer. All others I have seen need backpressure to operate while the RB system needs none. You can get the DP/presilencer combo for about 300 if i remember right.

I have an '86 rx and she's my baby! i want to make her as loud as possible so im going to hollow out the three cats and replace the massive mufflers with glass packs. has anyone ever had any expaerience with a set up like this? i want to know that since the rotary engine we all know and love is a two stroke, will this completely unrestricted setup work? or do i need the backpressure from the cats to make power?

DO NOT use glass pack on a rotary. They will be melted in under a week. If you want it loud, get the RB header/presilencer combo and a large single catback such as the apexi N1 or corksport.

i have a racing beat header and presilencer w/ the corksport powerseries cat-back exhaust.

if you dont mind driving under 3k while on the street, this is a good setup.
merging on the fwy, passing its really fucking loud.

right now, Im the loudest car on the street period.

I like to go up to the canyons and race, its too fucking loud!, even for me! its just too much noise without earplugs or a helmet.

im sure I wouldnt have been pulled over and written the 2 fix-it tickets and the 2 speeding tickets if I didnt have the corksport, its just a "here-i-am" for the cops.

so for now, its the stock cat-back, ill save the corksport for the track.

btw, Bobthenormal has stock manifold, main cat and the corksport drones inside the car.

im not bashing corksport here, I just want to let you know what your getting if you buy this exhaust. This exhaust isnt so bad if you have a TII.

downpipe/pre-silencer@racingbeat.com 305 is what i'll use thanx.
