Exhaust sleeves

I took the exhaust sleeves out of NA rotor housings to do some porting and was going to put TII exhaust sleeves back in, but what would be the concequences of leaving them out? Would the flow be terrible going from a smaller opening to such a large one? Or do the sleeves act as a heat buffer for the aluminum?

Thanks,

You can't imagine how horrible the flow would be if you leave them out...just put them back in and save yourself the horror.

I read somewhere on this forum that someone was making exhaust sleeves from some other material that would not expand. The stock sleeves expand to create turbulance in the air flow, to reduce the exhaust noise. Without this expansion you could see pretty decent inprovements in HP, especially on a turbo car, sinc it would spool the turbo much quicker, and at a lower RPM. But yea Id imagine that without the sleeves it probably wouldnt be a good thing.
