corksport is nice but loud
|
how about things like budget? how loud you can tolerate? emmissions? these things are important when picking an exhaust (duh) :)
|
im selling my corksport ... email me an offer at blcks7n@gmail.com
|
i wouldnt know by experience but by research i have heard some good things about the apex i gt spec . it runs around $500-$600 but it is loud as hell. it comes with a free silencer that decreases it by about 7 db. thats what i would get if it was for performance. if it was for a nice tone and every day drivability. i would probably get something from mazda speed.

corksport is not loud, if it is just the catback, now an Apexi is LOUD, JIC 90spec is loud, HKS dual is loud

Has anyone heard the Exas Spec 2 Pro Titanium?
http://www.autornd.com/catalog/produ...55ab6f3b2fd715 I was looking at it and it looked great..now I just want to hear it. I already have a 80mm dp and mp...my catback is the Greddy Powerback duals...it's nice and quiet unless I get on it, but I can tell it is limiting turbo spool and my power. |

Honestly, for the biggest ease of everything going easier, go with a RB unit.
|
thread jack
anyone know the piping size for the dual n1's on a TII ? |
Don't go with the RB unit.. Why you ask? Because it's the best one out there... Who the hell would want an exhaust that's manufactured by a company that specializes in rotaries?
|
Okay so lets try to settle this for once and for all....The best exhaust that isnt going to get you pulled over with the most performance advantages for under 800 bones????????? ANYONE????
|
Racing Beat cat-back for $576.00
http://www.racingbeat.com/resultset....rtNumber=16420 Sounds great, pretty quite unless you're on it. |
Racing Beat..........unless you want the noise and attention from the single large pipes.
I love the sound of an open piped RX7 but it is not worth the hassle of driving on the streets |
for under $800? I'd say HKS (had a setup on my old 91) and also Rotary Performance (not installed yet, but it is in my garage) I am told the RP setup is also throaty but definitely not a ticket getter.

Smog I felt the same way with my system so I built a complete 4 inch turbo back system with 2 magnaflow SS exhausts, straights, 45's, and 90's. I am thinking the big exhaust system should spool my turbo at around 3k. Its best to build your own system and not pay some company if you want power |

Thats looks great, Any sound clips of it. Once I finish the TII swap into my vert I was also thinking of either going custom or maybe getting the greddy unit. |
I personally would not spend the big dollars on a 2.5 or 3'' catback. Now with the supra guys running 5 and 6'' inch Down pipes which allows them to spool a giant turbo that used to be for a drag stip only, now these guys are running them on the street at 700-800rwhp on pump gas.
A complete turbo back exhaust system is easy enuff to make with 2 people. Everything you need is at ATPturbo.com and Jegs.com I would rather spend the extra money on a bad ass turbo system instead of some brand name exhaust. |
I still want to hear it though :( My car is track and show:P I want to hear your exhaust too buk...I only have a bnr stage 3 but still know that my exhaust is a limiting factor...custom turbo setup is for after I blow this engine....I like open exhaust, but want a deep sounding single..all the ones I've heard were really raspy.

here is a sneak preview of my 4 inch DP with a 4'' magnaflow ss oval welded in where a cat would go. I was suprised at how much room we have under the car for this. No fittiment issues so far.
Because I have a HKS cast mani the turbo sits forward in the motor so you just need 2 45 degree mandrel bends and about 2 feet of straight pipe. I am also making the complete exhaust 1 piece. We will finish the back half when i get back. I have already realized that this exhaust is going to flow like a MOFO. Designing your system with only a few 45 degree bends really is the way to go. The third & 4th pic is of my 3 inch Thunder fab DP/MP straight pipe and I welded a 3'' borla XR-1 oval in series to quiet it down. This pipe was made for the stock turbo exhaust backside and you can see how it uses 2 90 degree bends in the down pipe. The 90 degree bends don't help flow achieve maximum flow and with the heat of the rotary those are the spots that burned the high temp coating right off in about 1 month. So I have learned that your best designed exhaust system should have no 90's in it and 2 SS exhaust's used in series to keep maximum flow and keep a nice deep rumble tone. |
Custom or GReddy Power extreme.
