mazdatrix exhaust on NA
 

anywone here use the mazdatrix DUAL exhaust system with RB mufflers.
they claim about 35 hp to wheels. thats a t2 power output with that exhaust. has anyone dynoed their car with this system on or gone to a track. this would yeild a high 14's 1/4 time

I will know in a couple weeks. As soon as my tax returns roll in, the header will be on its way to me. I am custom building system from header to mufflers. I can't justify paying $700 on the pipes and presilencers between there.

The mufflers only cost $220 each ($199 for the internet special black coated ones) and the header costs $134.

Say, 75 for shipping at worst case scenario. $650 for the main components and have a local exhaust shop build the rest of the system for $100 or 150. Total of $800 for a professionally built system.

Their hp quotes seem inflated. FYI, their dyno was done on a bone stock 86 n/a, with NEW stock cats before. From the people I have talked to, the exhaust does NOT perform that well, especially on later cars. I would say closer to 15% increase thant heir quoted 28%.

What header did you buy, the road race one? I am doin some work when I get my income tax too. Bout $2000 worth :D

the mazdatrix exhaust system withteh rb muffers is 1200 that comes witha header that is a dual header, the dual pre silencers and piping and the rb mufflers that are welded to longer pipes so u dont use the y pipe. so this is a true dual exhast and doesn join anywhere. why woudl u have somethign welded on your own when this all bolts up. and btw are u sure its moreliek 15% gain cause the calimed 28% and 15% seem liek a big diffrence

I heard the exhaust in person when Dave Lemon asked me to market it for him. The full RB exhust sounds a little big ricey. Dave also agreed but he said the price more than made up for tha lack of tone that the HKS units supplied. The exhausts do put out plenty of power. I would not bitch and moan about percentage discrepancies since most of the RX-7's out there do not have function intake systems (VDI and Aux. Ports). These are critical systems to be funtioning properly to obtain the best power/torque curve. And how many people on this forum have actual before and after dyno charts of this particular exhaust system? I would bet a fair share of my own mony that the numbers are close to zero. Most people here like to quote numbers that they have never seen. Anyway, off my soap box.... I know they do dyno testing, but it is on an engine dyno mostly since they don't have a chassis dyno. One of the shops nearby (JUN Racing) has a chassis dyno, but they (Mazdatrix) haven't dynoed the RB full setup there to my knowledge.

i had a buddy running in auto cross, he reported a 34.5rwhp increase on the dyno after installing the system, which would be about 44-46 at the flywheel, probably put ya a few HP over a stock t2's number, with about 200-250lbs less weight than the t2 counter part :D

hmmmmmmmmmmmm, i think i am gonna go with the dual mazdatrix exhasut and the RB mufflers that come with it and see for myself :confused:

From what I have seen, the HP increase is close to what they say, but the thing I hate is the sound. When standing hehind the car, you hear each rotor exhaust port opening up. Kind of an alternating stereo effect. Sounds like a helicopter from a distance. I have wondered what a small x-pipe in middle would do.

Silver88GXL, they have a video fo the 2nd gen with that system running back and forth an di though it wasnt too bad sounding, kind aliked it actaully. maybe its because i am comnning from a N1 exhasut system :)

Well Kahren, come dyno the car in late april, then we will know the hp difference between your exhaust and a race pipe to cat back system. Stock 89+ makes 125-128rwhp

i wonder if i will be able to blow flames with just this. or if i will need a afc. do any of u know what the torque curve will look like with this.

yeah, just exhaust on an n/a is not gonna get you in the 14's.

go single...go N1 :D

I raced a guy that had that set up...man was it loud. But the car moved very well for an N/A. I would recomend it just outta the performance that I saw.

Anyone know the size of the piping used in the true-dual system? I am already have the header & am getting some muffs and prolly going with 2.5" piping. I figure if its really really loud I will just add presilencers later. Or does anyone know what size the silencers are? Thanks.

They are the same dia. as the header you already have.

Anymore than duel 2" and the motor will loose hp. Peripheral engines usually run duel 2", or 2.5" on nitrous. CJ

So you think 2" from the header to the mufflers? All the muffs I've seen are 2.5" inlet, would that hurt anything? I know they can make it work but would it lose any of the flow? Thanks.
