Exhaust Gas Temp.

I'm wondering what the exhaust temp is on a series 5 N/A? I'm planning on running Headers~>XR-1~>Corksport Muffler
( 2½ piping between everything ) and, I've heard it will be... LOUD

I really couldn't care less about exterior noise, but I'd like to be able to talk inside the car. So, I intended to wrap the pipe in something along the lines of Dynamat Extreme, or the like. The Max temp it will hold up to is approx. 275F, some others holding up to 300F.

That, along with some interior Damping and Sound Deadening, and I should be riding in NEAR silence. Ahhhhh. ( If I need to hear my 13B, I'll just open the sunroof :D

You will melt that shit.
To give you an idea, the exhaust out of a rotary is something like 300 degrees hotter than out of a piston engine. But if you had a real header wrap, that would work, Or even better take your entire exhaust system and have it coated at Jethot. It will flow better and all the heat will stay inside the pipes. For real, my brother had a 12 second '74 Dodge power wagon truck and his headers were jethot coated and after running several 1/4s you could almost touch the header.

I shot my header collector on the GXL a couple years ago with my brothers heat gun. It read about 700*F.

Sounds like the only thing I can put that stuff on, is where the heat-sheild for the exhaust is. Even still, a little is better than nothing. Any idea how much it would be to Jethotted? Keeping the exhaust cool isn't an issue, but an increase in flow is ALWAYS something to look into.

1500-1700 F at the header

Check out the video of Mazdatrix's E/Production engine on the dyno... the header is glowing white.

Yeah that's a little hot... :)
