exhaust flanges

Does anyone other than RB make the 3" exhaust flanges? Someone had told me either jegs or atpturbo, but I couldn't find any on those.

Just seems like $17 is a bit high....

i was getting ready to put on a 3" exhaust on my tt2 and i went to car quest and asked them and they had it and they did. if you don't have one around you then try carquest.com

Carquest?

I did a search for flange, no results there.

Are you talking 2-bolt or 3-bolt?
The 2-bolt ones are almost proprietary to Racing Beat.
You need to get those custom made if you want them outside of Racing Beat.

The 3-bolt ones are all over the place.

$17 is a decent price if you try and get these made custom in "low quantities".

Bah, yeah. I was told $17 was good by a friend. Was wanting the 2 bolt ones.

Oh well, at least it's not like when I was going to do a custom one and would have had to order 4 flanges... $70 for flanges did not make me happy.

Thanks, Ted.

Yeah, those 2-bolt ones are a pain in the ass.
We were looking for options a few years ago, cause I'm using the Racing Beat 3" downpipe and pre-silencer only.
From the rear back, it's all custom.
The crappy exhaust shop just lopped off the Racing Beat flange off the pre-silencer and welded on a cheapie 3-bolt one.
That damn thing just cannot seal well - it leaks all the time.

At least the Racing Beat flanges are very thick and well-made.
The crappy 3-bolt universals are usually 1/4" or thinner and aren't flat and warp easy. :(

We looked high and low for suppliers, but they all tell us that 2-bolt 3" I.D. was not something standard.
When we tried to source them from a machine shop, it was going to cost us at least $30 EACH to get them made. :(

I don't know if you've ever taken a good look at the 3 bolt flanges, but all the ones I have are slightly convex (or concave depending on your point of view). I would think this has something to do with the leakage. Probably a side effect of being laser cut or stamped in a crappy press.

Just came across this last night...

http://www.atpturbo.com/Merchant2/me...egory_Code=FLG

Doesn't look that thick though?

Whoa, weird. Thanks Ted. I swear I searched around there and couldn't find any nice 3" flanges.

Not sure on the thickness though? Almost no angle for the pic...
