exedy stage 2 and act prolite
 

hey guys...just ordered and exedy stage 2 and act prolite for my 87 t2...just wondering if theres any1 with this setup or a similar one and how they like it...

not quite the same...
 

exedy stage one with a tII fidanza 8.5... looooove it...

the act prolite is a bit heavier, yet the exedy stage 2 is grabbier...

sounds like a good combination...

you should have a decent threshold on the pedal...

the main thing you have to consider with a street driven rotary is moving mass of the flywheel in relation to grip of the clutch/pressure plate... too hard core and you end up with no room for error taking off... this = mad hot spots over time... unless you always launch it...lol

nice....i believe the prolite is also in the 8lb range...but since im pushing 230hp (with a slipping stock clutch), i needed more holding power so i went with a stage 2...i also liked how it still had a sprung hub so that it doesnt have as much shock on the drivetrain...ill let u guys know how it goes..

i'm glad i'm not the only one who realizes that clutches should be purchased based on hp...

too many ricer's driving stock honda's with stage 3 kits nowadays... lol

btw... the prolite t2 flywheel weighs in @ 9.8... you should enjoy it with a stage 2 exedy.

i know right!...i got got my clutch kit in yesterday...looks really nice...still waiting on my flywheel tho...hows ur revs compared to stock after the flywheel install?

i always thought clutches were rated in torque not hp..:scratch:

how do those 3 puck clutches feel though?

yup they are...im running 230hp and 201 ft-lbs. at the wheels, with slippage at 5k rpm...the stage 2 can handle up to 336 ft-lbs. so it should be good...i havent put it in yet, still waiting on my flywheel and rear main seal to come in...ill keep u guys updated...

rotary's torque and horsepower are usually close enough for me to get lazy on wording...lol

as far as having a 8.5... little better than stock, but i did a complete tII drive train conversion and the same time...

i pretty much relocated moving mass of the engine and transferred it farther down the drive line... oh well, at least it's tougher.

you had to by a rotor shaped clutch disc, didn't you? lol

i would have done the same if i found a stage one shaped like a rotor.

ha!...u no i never noticed that...lol...thats funny...i ordered my flywheel from rx7.com and its still in texas...so...says should be here on the 26th...

the streetlite are the heavier flywheels, while the prolites are the lighter ones.
But how much did you pay for the Exedy stage 2 clutch? And what is thetorque or horsepower rating it is meant to handle? Would love to know.

payed about $421 shipped for the clutch from gripforce clutches on ebay..i made sure it was the correct part # from other reputable sites to make sure i was getting the correct parts....its rated at 336ft-lbs. tq.

got my flywheel in today!..check it out!...looks awesome...it came with the hardware, counterweight...and a buttload of stickers...ordered it from rx7.com....im planning to install it this week or around next monday....ill let u guys know how it goes!

UPDATE.....just put everything in today...btw...it was a bitch....it was my first clutch/flywheel install and i did it on a lift but it was still a bitch...anyway...the clutch grabs like no other....pedal feel is a lil bit stronger than stock..but im still on the break in period...clutch engages hard and fast...as for the flywheel...revs are significantly faster...picks up fast...turbo also spools quicker....its gonna take sum time getting used to...im leaving stops at around 3.5k rpm and the clutch is either engaged or disengaged...no in between at all....there is some chatter...but thats with any upgraded clutch...but all in all...an awesome setup!...would recommend for any1 else wanting to go this route!...but on a sidenote....this setup is not too forgiving...look for a stage 1 or act street/strip disc if your more for smooth daily driving engagement....
