Everything's cool?

Hey, I'm looking for some reassurance regarding an '86 base I bought a couple of months ago.

I don't have access to the car right now (geography... only one more week!), but I'm getting all concerned about not having had the compression checked. Just didn't think about it...

The car seemed to run well, no smoke, cool, smooth, quick, and I put like 800 high-speed km on it. Seemed to have enough balls. It has 92 k on an original engine and it's pretty clean, very good emissions. I've got a few bolt on mods (Bonez pipe, air intake) and lots of little things to do (antenna, clock, funny wipers, etc...)

So is there that much to worry about re. the compression deal?

Every RX-7 should have a comp check. Every one. Always. Clear enough? Good luck.

You should be fine. I testing my convertible when I bough it @ 96K miles, and it was 88% of optimal. I'll have it retested around 140K miles and then every 20K after that to "hopefully" catch it before the apex seals get sucked into the engine. That way I can rebuild myself for cheap.

Of course the first thing I did was replace the exhaust & cats to extend the engine life :)

92k on a 16 year old engine is quite a bit. Start savin those pennies, cuz in the next yer or two, pop goes the apex. I bought my 91 w/ 96k on the clock, and she went 8 months later at 101k.
