engine tore down

so me and 0001tmn tore down my engine 2day and the seals were fine the springs were shot and the rear rotor housing has a scretch about 1/4 inch gash in it. so 0001tmn has a spare front rotor housing, my qustion is since its housings are the front and rear housings interchangable ? also it will be a na housing to a turbo engine. will it work ? or am i screwd and have to buy another rear turbo housing ?

yes front and rear housings are interchangeable. turbo and na kinda. if you grind out the na's exhaust defuser, i dont think it will be that big of a problem.

yeah me and a friend of mine were reading about i wrote this late last night after the engine was dismanteled and i was a little down in the dumps about having the scratched housing so i didnt even try to search. but first thing this am i looked and found a post in the 3rd gen forum that said the FR and R were interchangeable just there would be egr stuff that would get mixed up or somthing along those lines.... so i took that knowledge and the fact that s5's dont have egr's to mean that they would just the drilling of taht defuser thing and we'd be good to go.
i do have one more qustion that i just wont confermation on. whats called the birds nest is all the emission's crap thats put on the car, when you buy the block off plates alll you have to do is run another fuel line to the lower fuel rail and another oil line ( i think i can disconect the one from the nest and reuse it). now other thatn those 2 things i shouldent need anything eles ? i should just be able to throw that cluster F#$K away right ?
