Engine swap. Drive shaftg does not match up..???

Alright, We are putting together a beautiful 1983 RX-7 from good parts from all sorts of years (1st gen's). I bought a drive shaft off of ebay, and the guy thought the drive shaft came out of an '83. But when we tried to bolt up the driveshaft, the bolting plate on the diff. and the bolting plate on the driveshaft are different. The diameter of the bolt pattern on the diff. is slightly bigger than the bold pattern on the driveshaft.
So I guess my question is, did I buy the wrong year driveshaft? Because the guy I bought it from diddnt seem 100% positive that it was from an '83. Or maybe the differential is from a different year? (the diff was in the car when I bought it without a motor, so maybe is was changed out without me knowing it by the previous owner)

Hopefully you guys could help me out and maybe someone will know enough to tell me what year everything is from.

Thanks very much in advance!!

EDIT: Mods, please move to 1st gen specific. Sorry, Im so used to posting in the 2nd gen forums.

You have to custom fit it anyhow.

A driveshaft shop could do it for you for around 175$

Hmm, okay. Ill keep that in mind. Any other options? Im open to just about anything just to get it to work.
