Engine Rebuild Question

I know everyone says "while it's apart, do it right" but what is as bare minimum needed for an engine rebuild.
My #1 rotor blew an apex seal. Can I get away with a engine gasket set and a set of apex seals? Or is there more needed? Money is a definite issue.

Depends if the apex seal cause anymore damage to the internals. If you cant rip the motor apart and see what internal damage has been done, atleast plan on rotor housing, rotor and iron.

If you're asking that question I hope you aren't personally planning on building it. Typically when an apex seal breaks it does housing damage. It hurts me to hear of one being built with the least parts possible approach.

It hurts me that it's come to this. It was the best, funnest, most enjoyable car I've had. The body isn't worth a new motor or a professional rebuild of $1000+. I just want my car back.

then buy a junk yard motor and keep on driving
