engine problems!
 

I have an 88 t2 than makes loud hiss at spool but does not boost . Someone said I may have broken the torbo shaft ?

sounds more like a vac leak i just had that sort of prob a loud hissing i had a cracked pipe that had come off just under the inter cooler on what would be your passenger side. i think it was a/c bypass or somthing neway just have a look or try spraying some brake cleaner with engine runnin and listen for changes in the idle
