engine opened. what to replace?
 

ok guys...

I just found out that my 88 TII Jap Spec engine has to be opened... We're changing seals and stuff. What do you suggest i change and what should i change it to?

I'm thinking of RB one piee seals. for starters. I'm clueless as too where to get parts from and decent prices. I'm gona do do a street port and my mech said we should go for the exhaust port as well. comments?

Also any input on what else should i change? I'm also gonna change the clutch so advise would be appreciated here too.

Just out of curiousity, why are you changing to 1 piece seals? There web site clearly states that they don't recommend using the seals in a turbo motor. Unless you are into competition driving, (something on a track, not the weekend street race) then you'll probably be better off replacing everything with OEM quality parts.

These Race Apex Seals are specifically designed to replace the stock cast iron seals in engines operating near, or above, 8,500 RPM. These aluminum-filled carbon seals are a one-piece design, 2mm in thickness, and must be used only with our special Race Apex Seal Springs. We do not believe these seals are appropriate for turbocharged applications because of their fragile nature if subject to detonation.

well after lookibg on the net, i think i'm gonna go with the rotary aviation kit... 2 piece seals

Buy the rebuild video, it would help know a little more about the engine before you go out and buy parts. Are you rebuilding it or are you having someone else rebuild it because it sounds like you are a little new to rotarys.

Rebuilding them is not that hard, you just need to make sure everything is perfect or else your engine will not be running long. Cleaning and specing the engine take up the vast majority of the time.

Again, buy the video, I think it would be very helpful for you.
