engine oil aditives?>
 

alright well im sure all of you have heard of the lucas shit that works wonders on engines ... my engine has about 180k km on it and i was wondering if this would be a suitable option for my just to ensure lubrication?... or will it make it to viscus and keep my oil pressure to high ?.. or rob me of hp due to the mechanical pump having to work harder? btw its a 87.5 na all stock sept exhaust so yeah if an oil guru is readin plz tell me if its a good idea or not thnx in advance

we don't have pistons, rings, or seals like a conventional engine and therefore lucas oil additives will do minimal for our engines... especially since its mainly there for helping old engines maintain compression when they have dried seals and worn rings (oil burning problems). Just change the oil every 2000 or 3000 miles and make sure you check it.

Also have a compression test done if your not sure how worn the engine is. This will give you some idea of when she will try and pop on you.

If I am wrong I am sure someone will correct me and as always do a search in the forum to see what others have already said about oil additives.

correct me if im wrong but oil on our apex seals helps build compression does it not?..... if thats the case then what ujust told me goes right out the window as protecting our wpex seals is a must and if ithelps buils compression then y not ?

DO NOT run Lucas in a rotary. It is way too thick for the oil injection system. If you are worried about proper lubrication change the oil as often as every 2k. And use a thicker oil such as 20w50.

I have heard on here that any oil additive is not good to run in a rotary. The oil injection system puts anything that is in your oil into the combustion chamber. Alot of the oil additives have crap in them you don't want to be burning.

just dont use it if it was as good as they (lucas, STP, CRC, Gumout, etc...) say then it would be in the oil already and it wouldnt be an additive. All you need is Conventional motor oil in your disired weight.

besides, its been said before... lucas has a high ash content and will gum up the unternals and that will turn into carbon, and break your seals. If you want better lube, premix tc-w3 2cycle into the tank... it supposidly works better and is designed to burn better. Itll also confuse the piss out of your neghbors...

As far as I know the oil is there to lubricate and of course it helps the seals to maintain compression but not like a piston engines internals.

if you want to protect and lubricate the apex seals then....... premix.

Modern engine oils already have many additives and detergents, anything you buy as extra additives is really a waste. These "special" additives are relics of the old days, when oil didn't have all the additives, etc. that it does now. If you wanted to better your oil, you would be better off running synthetic. That opens another debate when it comes to the rotary engine though.

Personally, I wouldn't bother with it. If your engine is having some kind of problem, a magic solution in the bottle certainly wouldn't fix it, and if it is running fine, just keep fresh oil in it.
