engine ground location

just a quick question. where is the engine ground on a 87 TII? is it directly under the intake manifold so ill know if i have to remove it or not. ty for reading.

Theoretically you can't remove an engine ground as the engine is ALL ground. If you put a ground wire to the engine the whole engine is in fact a ground point, unless totally isolated from the rest of the engine by insulation or rubber.
The Wiring hanress does attach to the center iron under the lower manifold, and NO you cannot just cut that out.It needs to be there. It would act as ground for engine components, such as injectors, sensors etc.

sry let me rephrase that i meant to remove the intake manifold so i can get to the engine ground wire to see if it needs cleaning. i was never going to remove the ground wire in the first place lol

your main engine ground is on the left side of the engine near the starter (forward and above). if you follow the ground from the battery it runs to the left shock tower and then to the block.

You'll want to follow Aaron Cake's grounding writeup. Has pictures and everything.

The ground for the ECU is the one under the intake manifold and is located on the top of the rear rotor housing.

The neg terminal of the battery goes directly to the long attach bolt of the starter or one of the nearby engine/transmission attach bolts. Call that the engine ground if you want. That same cable also has a splice in it that goes to the bottom of the left front strut tower area.

There's several bonding straps like the one near the wiper motor that attaches to??? the top area of the transmission I believe/remember.

You were probably looking for the ECU ground point on top of the rear rotor housing on a series four car.
