Engine dies when I slow down
I have an 86 NA that the engine dies when I slow down or stop, it starts up again with no problem ....I changed the plugs and wires, but nothing changed...The headlights and dash lights flicker when at idel but I don't know if this has anything to do with it...... This is my first RX7 and I know very little about them , but I love the car and the performance. PLEASE HELP ME!

I would check for intake leaks first. This is the primary failing of all idle problems.

check the brake booster vacuum line.

was you a/c on?

Engine still dies
I changed my user name....... I also changed a vacuum on the brake booster but it did not help, the other lines look good but I have no way of doing a smoke test to look for more leaks.......And yes the problem is worst when the AC is running......PLease give me what ever you can come up with to help.... Thank you very much for your input.

Troubleshooting idle problems is a real PITA, but the systematic approach is the best way. Check the TPS, check the BAC valve, check the output of the alternator, look for vacuum and air leaks by spraying a mist of water near the lines with the car idling, check the grounds. Get a Haynes or factory workshop manual (free for the download--see the FAQ) if you don't know how to do those things. You also might try adjusting the dashpot on the throttle body linkage. Good luck!
