Engine coming apart?

I am trying to help my friend, his high mileage GTU has lost oil pressure and feels like it is running on one rotor. When he accelerated a bit to clear it up, it blew white smoke. It is hard to start, and has never been overheated. He also said he heard a loud metallic sound in the engine.

I'm thinking it needs to be overhauled (DUH). Plan on helping him do a compression test tomorrow night, will post the #s. Basically my question is:

What would make a motor lose oil pressure and possibly compression at the same time?

If the oil drops pressure it doesnt take but a minute to loose compression.... The oil between the seals and housing actual acts like a seal itself. Thats why if you have a flooded motor you shoot ATF or oil in it to reseal everything. Thats if nothing is scared already...

its my car and ROLI ur the man. after i saw the loss of oil pressure i parked the car adn ran to a gas station to get oil i did that and after i put in oil it still did the same after i let it sit for 10 min guys i have no idea wtf happened like it all happened while my car was parked outside of my office at work it was fine in the morning come the night it was like dr jackel and mister hide

Most of the time, "lost oil pressure" is just "bad oil pressure sender". If not then it will be something obvious like a broken oil cooler line.

It's hard to say what the issue is since the descriptions of the problems are poor.

Only running on one rotor could be many things besides compression. Bad injector (which would make sense considering the smoke), bad plug, bad wire, etc.

ok this is the part that u guys might be mad i have to be honest. i havernt changed the plugs or wires in a while and my im guessing the factory pressure regulator went bad but i changed it

I'm not mad... Just dissapointed...

Mine eats plugs like 12 year olds snort pixie sticks....

Might want to give the regular tune up a try and see what happens. Hey, it needs to be done non the less right?

ok just finished doing a compression test front rotr had 90 psi rear rotor between 65 and 75. this sucks lol anyone got a motor
