engine code question.??

hey guys on the "Checking the codes on a 89-91", how am i to fix the problem.. well not fixing it. but is there a way that shows and tell how to fix the spot.. mine reads-
Code#-
13

Input Device-
pressure sensor (intake manifold)

malfunction-
broken wire, short circuit

Fail-safe function-
intake pressure fixed at 760 mmHg (29.9 inhg)

and on the fail-safe function it says intake pressure fixed at 760 mmhg.?? what does it mean by that.?? can anyone help.? or have experience this before.?? thanks

check to make sure your sensor is pluged in and has the vac line going to it.

if everything looks good. in the FSM there is a way to test it but you need something to produce vac and boost. and also a volt meter.

if it tests good then it might be the wiring between the ecu and sensor.

if you know anyone with a 89-91 N/A FC you could swap sensors and see if it fixes it (you'd have to reset the codes after you swap. then go for a drive. and see if it comes back)

set to 760 means the ecu will always asume that the engine pressure is that. since it can't get readings from the sensor. so fuel and timming maps will be slighty different then they should be. probably losing you power.

Does your factory boost gauge work??? I ask because the signal from the boost sensor splices off and goes to the ECU AND the boost gauge. If you really had a bad sensor......then the boost gauge would malfunction also. Comprende??????

760 mmHg (29.9 inhg)...they are one and the same. Basically SeaLevel is what the ECU sees no matter what your boosting.

760mmHg is equal to about 30inHg of vacuum.
