Engine build questions
I am getting ready to replace my 134k engine from my T2. My questions are 1. apex seal that can handle a full 15 psi? 2 or 3 part seals? What brand of seals? 2. Porting intake and/or exhaust? All coolant and oil mods will be done on next engine. I am mostly worried about the portings. |
one brand of seals: Mazda
any seals can take 15psi, but if u go 3mm steal over the 2mm steal u have a few extra lives. that is the 3mm seals take a few more hits of detonation. both the 2 and 3mm seals cost the same it's just that u have to machine the rotors to fit the 3mm u can have your ports extend ported. but u must have it done by someone who knows what they're doing. u could have your stationary gears nitrided (like the standard 3rd gen eng) for higher rpm capability. and at 15psi, u could have extra dowles fitted. dowles being some more of those long bolts which go through the entire housings to limit twisting forces from high boost. |
