Search and read.

you can read the faq. it's there for a reason. however if you have specific questions like "what are the concequences of removeing my charcoal canister?" you should probaly ask those directly.

As far as moving stuff around, are you trying to cleanup the engine bay, just be different, or remove non-essential systems (ie very annoying, but it will drive)? |
try searching for:
battery relocation electric fan install vac rack removal power stearing removal a/c removal Thats all I can think of now. That aught to keep you busy for a while. |
I've been wanting to cleanup my engine bay for a while now. ScrapFc has been a big motivation for that. Everytime I see his engine bay, I gawk at how much room he has to work compared to the stock engine bay which is cram packed.
Some idea's to think about: Remove A/C - You get to remove all the a/c lines + the compressor + remove the rotating mass of the pulley's off the engine + the a/c belt Remove P/S - The p/s pump sits above the a/c compressor, so you need to either remove this or move it around if you want to keep your power steering (assuming you have p/s in the first place.) The above two mods will free up quite a bit of room to the right of the engine, and make it really easy to get to your spark plugs. Replace fan - an electric fan conversion will make the fan quieter as well as free up a bunch of space in front of the engine Replace air filter - Replacing the air filter with a cone air filter and the electric fan will allow you to remove all that plastic between the radiator and the engine. Remove cold start system - Doesn't do much, and mazda released a technical bulleting saying you can remove the system without any problems. One thing discussed has been replacing the plastic elbow off the throttle body and placing the cone air filter right behind the wheel well in the back left of the engine bay and venting from the wheel well to get your air. This will clean up the left side of your engine bay a bit, and be drawing air much further away from the radiator should be colder air. Move the Battery - Frees up more room to work I think that is everything that would be anywhere near practical to move/remove/replace in the engine bay for what you are talking about. |
