Have you tried driving the car before without power steering? It really is not that bad. :)
Just take off the belt at first and go take the car for a spin. Turning the wheels from a dead stop will require more effort of course, but once you're rolling it's not hard. And if you like it, you can remove the p/s pump and get rid of that much more weight. Besides that, no power steering allows you to feel the road a little better. Once I get my FC, the p/s is going. Just a suggestion, of course. Also, if you haven't already, you can remove all that padding that lines the underside of your hood. Everything counts! https://www.rx7club.com/forum/images/icons/icon14.gif |

Originally posted by crossbar17 i hear u can remove soilenoids 1,2,3 out of the 5(those are the first 3 which i can remove correct?) Actually, there are only 4 solenoids on the n/a. We're missing the twin scroll solenoid.. IF you remove all the emissions stuff (you've already got the ACV.. EGR you should do also), you can remove the first three.. They're all about emissions. (first = front). The rearmost one is for HOT starts.. Apparantly, mazda engineers thought that MAYBE if your car is really, really hot, and you turn it off, then turn it back on REAL soon, the fuel in the lines MAY vaporize.. that solenoid keeps the fuel pressure high for a few seconds on really hot starts.. really hot = hammering it thru the desert, pretty much.. You can try to just unplug the solenoid and see if it affects you.. if not, rip it out too.. Just be sure to plug all the vacuum lines left empty! There are two or three threads about this right now.. "Simplifying the engine bay" and "omp vs premix", both by "RX-7 GT" i think.. They both have some good info. -Tesla |
You don't have to remove the BAC valve to do the TB mod, you just don't run coolant thru it. I've never expereinced a car without the BAC, but I've heard plenty of complaints about bad idle with any accessories (AC, big electrical loads, etc) turned on.
