emissions removed...goodbye idle
 

i just removed all of my emissions from my 86 n/a.the car starts and will run with my foot on the gas anywhere past 2k rpm,any lower and the car stumbles then dies no matter how much gas i give it.while revving at about 2500rpm it back fires repeatedly(detonation?). i don't know what could be causing this,i thought it could be the FPR.i have it running from the vac nipple to left of it on the UIM,not sure if it should be hooked up there.i do still have the cat on,but am planning on getting rid of it soon,but that shouldn't cause this idle issue,should it?i also adjusted the idle screw on the back of th TB to its max,with no luck.anybody have a clue whats going on?

first thing make sure there isn't any vacum leaks that happened to me

Check to make sure everything got capped off that was removed.

Next, make sure that your FPR and MAP are seeing vacuum from AFTER the throttle plates. Some of the nipples on the UIM are sourced before the plates.

lol,nope just some sheet aluminum.but is that were the FPR should be hooked up?

Your block-off plates are way tpo thin, and won't be flat enough to seal properly. They are the most likely cause of the vac leak that's affecting your idle. They should be 3mm (1/8") thick minimum.

thanks guys,ill wip up some new block off plates out of thicker metal and see if that works.

ok,i got new plates,and still no luck.ive noticed a loud clicking noise when i let off of the gas,and i can hear it through the entire rpm range.if i let of the gas below 2300rpm it stumbles and it dies even if i give it gas.i miss my car:crying:

would the oil fill cover not being on at start up cause a disturbance in idle?also,if when i was removing the parts off of the tb,i happened to push the plunger on the tps in multiple times.would this screw up the tps?

just took the car for a test drive,and it was not smooth.i had to have my foot on the gass the hole time,and around 3500rpm the car bucked and jerk very hard until it got past about 4000rpm.also every time it shuts itself off it floods.any ideas?

You really should double check all of your sensor adjustments after fooling with the TPS at all.

I still have my money on a vacuum leak.

Can you outline what else you removed/modified?

You did a proper remove all emissions things correct? Don't remove things that are needed!
