is there a hp gain? does it run better after or what?

The only emissions-related parts that affect engine performance are the cats. The rest makes no difference at all. The engine will only run better if in the process of removing the emission controls you also remove or repair something that was actually causing a problem. If you stuff it up you can make the engine run worse.

so removing emissions just eliminate problems that could occure later on down the road?

Basically. Although, if you know what you're doing, the future problems shouldn't be hard to fix.

fewer vacuum lines/components generally means less things that could go wrong. Some of the things you may want to keep are:

vacuum lines to oil injectors - regulate the oil injection amount (if want to keep the omp)
thermowax - bumps up idle on cold starts
fuel atomizer line - helps fuel dispersment or something
FPR - fuel pressure regulator
BAC - if you have A/C you may want to keep this so you wont stall when you turn it on

Also its a lot easier to take the uim off for repairs/maintanence with emissions rack/rats nest removed

do a search for rats nest and you should be able to find good diagrams describing how to route everything

^^ well said i agree i am also in the process of removing most of my emissions due to no emissions testing in AL but i am going all the way and remove the PS AC and basically everything not needed....do a basic search for emmisons removal and you will find hundreds of threads about this

its been awile since i first posted this. i ended up not removing my emission but recently the bracket for the air pump bracket broke. so i tiook it out and have been running without it. the belt was slipping so i got a double alt pulley which solved that prob but now im wonder if i should remove emissions. would that help anything or not
