Electrical Problems, PLEASE help...
 

Ok, so I finally get my gauges hooked up and they work great for a week. Now I am having problems. Everytime I either open the door or turn on the dome light (which stopped working along with the courtesy lights in the doors) the clock turns off and the open door light goes on (even when the dome light is turned to on and the door is closed), and when I close the door/turn the dome light off, the clock begins again at 1:00. Also, sometimes the door light will not go off at all, only dims. Can anyone help me out here, I really have no clue why this is happening. the only connections I made were...

A/F guage--ground is directly from battery, and power is running off the turbo timer power harness w. an inline 5 amp fuse.

Boost Guage-grounded to ground on glovebox light, and powered by the light located by the ciggarette lighter in the center console.

My stereo stopped turning on at all also, but I have a feeling it may have just bit the dust b/c it hasnt been working right lately. ANY help would be greatly appreciated, the car is running great, but i would preferr the electronics to operate as they are supposed to. Thanks in advance.

You are backfeeding the ground circuit, with the boost gauge.

The ground on the boost gauge needs to be moved and grounded properly.

i think he means cause the boost gauges ground is already on another ground? find a diff one:D

Nah, you attached to a ground that has switched voltage and switch ground on the circuit, so the 12 volts coming from the gauge is finding a path back out through the other side of the circuit.

In other words the wire you used for grounding does not go directly to ground and the gauge is finding ground through the other things (like your clock or dome circuit).

So you are effectivly taking the ground away from the other things using that same ground point and replacing it with 12 volts all to make the gauge work.

I disconnected the ground and the problem wasnt solved. I then proceded to disconnect all the grounds and power lines of all of my guages--problem still now solved, any ideas??
