electrical problems

I was just thinking that there are at least a few of you out there who know more about rx-7's than I do, so I figure I'll post this question here.

I have a 1990 conv. non-turbo, with a 5 spd manual.
Simply put, it won't start.
I put a new battery in it, and it still won't start. I checked the fuses, and they are all good. I also checked the ground connection, and it looks good, but I can't really tell with out a meter. If I turn the key, I get nothing. No lights come on, no radio, no alarm, nothing.

This car is my baby and I'd appreciate any ideas on what this problem might me.

Check the battery cables (may need to replace them), alternater cable. Did you check both fuse boxes? If it's a fuse, it would usually be the Main fuse in the box on the driver's side under the hood.
Did it just happen, or has the car been sitting for awhile?

did you hook the battery up correctly??? Most batteries have the terminals opposite of what Mazda uses. You need to make sure you used the same type of battery, not just what was on sale.

If you did get the right battery, I would also be checking the Main fuse. or the grounds for the battery.

Also did you check the battery leads and clean them before installing a new battery. If you didn't clean them and your old battery was leaking you probably have a bad contact on one of both of the leads.
