Electrical Problem Solved!!!
here are the symptoms:
1) when the ignition switch is at ACC, no radio 2) when the ignition switch is at IGN, no idiot lights, no dash meters 3) when the ignition switch is at START, nothing but EVERY stinkin' fuse is good! AND the head lights/high beam, interior lights, and hazard lights work. heres the possible problem- little(like half a volt) or no voltage is getting to the ignition switch. heres how to check- theres a harness connector under the dash, just infront of the steering column. The wire colors are *black* and *black/white stripe* from the harness, *black/yellow stripe* and *white/red stripe* going into the steering column. Unplug the connector and put the positive probe on the *black* wire (harness side)and the negative probe on one of the peddles or any good ground. there should be a 11-12 volt reading. if you get no reading, or very little voltage... theres a bad connection from the main fuse (80A) to the ignition switch. there should be 11-12 volts pressent all times. whether or not the key is in the ignition. the fix is running an appropiate size guage of wire from the 80A fuse(the side closest to the firewall) to the *black* wire under the dash. |
Interesting, archive please?
