Electrical issue

Head unit went out. Fuses are good. Head fuse is good. Took it apart no visible damage to capacitors, chips, etc.... Head is receiving 12.4 volts when car is on, but is not turning on.

Any ideas what I should be looking for? Also, the clock in the idiot surround went out at the same time, but the warning lights still work. And it says the door is open even when it isn't.

Any insight would be great. I'm convinced the head is toast but gimme some hope.

Wow, I have something like the same exact problem! Door is open, clock doesn't work until door is closed (...).
Well, currently, my voltage regulator broke and I assume I fried something somewhere. Be sure to check connections and grounds!

Would like a better answer for problem though...

That could just be bad solder joints. I took mine apart about a year ago, desoldered it, and resoldered it. Worked like a champ till today.

Just redid all grounds. Maybe i'll take some off and see what happens.

It's one problem when an electrical circuit is cut off, it's another when it just gets rerouted somewhere. This really sucks! I tried with the interior wiring to no avail...

Do your interior lights come on when you open the doors? The idiot lights and the clock are on separate fused circuits. Check the 7.5a fuse that controls the interior lights. If it blows, the clock display won't come on.

room fuse is blown... not bad solder joints of grounds... if the clock and radio do not work you have a blown room fuse.

You should be checking all the fuses before even posting

I did check all the fuses, but I'll go check again. I'll post what I find.

Room fuse (7.5 amp) was blown. I had checked all the fuses, but I think I checked them when I was working on the power window problem and THEN the power went out on the stereo. I called it a night and that's where my problem started.

Anyways, thanks for your help everybody. Stereo and clock work now.
