Electrical Bug, HELP!!!!!!!
 

Whats up, I am having a problem w/ my ignition switch. I have an 87 t2 and it is heavily modified. when you turn the key to ignition switch, nothing at all happens. CD player doesn't work, fan blower doesn't work, windows don't work. I have put a light on the fuse box on the drivers side kick panel. The first row of small fuses at the top have power w/o the ignition switch being on. The second row of small fuses are supposed to have power when ignition switch is turned on. No power is getting to the 2nd row of fuses at all. The Fuse box on the drivers side strut tower, everything seems to be all intact. I am now boiled down to a broken wire, or blown relay. Is there actually a relay that controls when the power is sent to the fuse panel under the kick panel? Please help!

Another thing. The night before I had this problem, the Oil pressure gauge took a strange nose dive. I had never had this problem. I put a mechanical oil pressure gauge before I tried to crank it. Then turned the key and nothing! Something bogus!!!!!!!!!!!

OK, the wiring for that row of fuses is as follows. From the battery, you go to the ignition switch via the 80A main fuse on the drivers side strut tower. From there, power is supplied directly to the IG1 bus by turning the ignition switch to the run position. No relay is involved - you've either got a bad 80A fuse, a bad wire (Black to the ignition switch, black/white stripe from the switch to the fuse box.), or a bad ignition switch! Good luck!

Thanks for you help Irv. I will check around today to see if I have any unconnected plugs or wires. Hopefully It isn't anything serous to find!

a bad ign. switch is pretty common. fiddle the key back and forth in the on posistion and see if it comes back on. it the switch is dead you can probably get stuff to work by fiddleing with the key. if it comes on, replace the switch.

Thanks for helping me out fellas. I found out that the 8mm wire coming off of the fuse panel disconnected somehow! (THANKS CHRISPEED, you da man!)
