Electric vs Belt Driven Fan

1 Attachment(s)
hey guys, ive been wanting to clear up some room in my engine bay, and i think the best way to do that would to go to an electric fan. I dont wanna go buy a new one, i thnk im just gunna go check out the junk yards for one i can just mount. Anyone know what kind vehicle to look out for as far as fan sizes or dementions? a buddy of mine said we should go raid an "Aero Star" but im not sure how well it will mate up to my stock rad, any ideas anyone?

Read Aarons plus the link below called "The Electric Fan"

Also read here which gives you information on the clutch fan

The e-fan is NOT in any way, shape or form, an upgrade.

It will clean the bay up though and will work out fine if you do it right.

i know its not an upgrade, like i said i just wanna make some room in my engine bay. just makes it a hell of a lot easier to work on with the plasic housing and belt fan out of the way

Impressive write up...

So at ~4k rpms the fan is pushing ~2500 CFM,
and at ~2500 CFM it is consuming ~2 horsepower??

Be sure you get a good e-fan, like the write-up says. An e-fan designed for a wimpy engine won't provide enough cooling. Also remember that the alternator output on the FC is already pretty minimal. You'll probably be okay if your alternator is in good shape and you don't use too much electricity, but it's something to consider.
