Did you just turn the blade over? That won't work. You need to spin the motor the other way.

Yes you need to reverse the polarity in the wiring.

I know the autozone type e-fans have a "push/pull" option for front or back applications. (haven't had an e-fan in 3 years so i dont remember completely) but has anyone tried putting an Efan on the front of the radiator and leaving the stock clutch fan?

It will not help unless you're overheating on a dyno or while idling. It will also decrease cooling capacity at normal speeds by obstructing airflow through the radiator.
