electric fan

how much is a electric fan and is it worth putting in
and how to remove old fan anf install

J-Rat 11-27-02 06:20 PM

The Perma-cools will run about $90 from Summitt Racing, that fan pulls about 2900 CFM. Removing the clutch fan is EASY, four bolts and its out.

lol, im cheep, i went to DAP's and got a fan for 60 bux!, i wouldn't traid it for anything, you won't notice much in the way of performance (except it seemed to me like the engine could rev a little faster) but the extra space is well worth it, they are easy to hook up, i just ran a line to my battery, to a switch, inline fuce and then to my fan and a ground, you might wana get a temp sensor for it though so you don't over heat your car, but ya in all i probably payed about 70 bux, the old fan and fan shroud is easy to take off, the shroud is just a matter of looking for the bolts and same with the fan...

I think its worth getting an electric fan just to ditch that huge fan shroud.. alot more room to work with when your workin under the hood

You can pull one off a fiero or whatever at a junk yard for like 5$.

MazdaManGTU 11-28-02 03:32 AM

Thanks i am savin money for a turbo so i think i will junkyard it but the fiero will defintely work?

dr0x 11-30-02 12:13 PM

Yes, thats what I have in my car.

Fuck some 60 bucks. I went to the J yard and got an electric fan out of a Pontiac GrandAm (or one of those cars like that) and it was identical to the infamous Feiro Fan. Got it for i think 15 bucks, then went to the Auto Parts store and got a thermostat switch for it for around 17 bucks. So 32 bucks and some zip ties i had an E fan with a switch and all. Never had a problem with over heating, never went over 1/4th of the way up the stock guage.

Aaron Cake 11-30-02 03:24 PM

My fan is from a Pontiac 6000.

But no, it is not worth putting an electric fan on unless you have a specific reason to do so. The stock clutch fan moves way more air than any electric fan available.

Do you have some numbers for that factory fan Aaron?

Aaron Cake 12-01-02 10:15 AM

No numbers to prove it.
