ECU swaps

I have a 1988 TII (S4) with what seems to be a faulty ECU. A friend can sell me a 1987 TII one. Question is: Can they be swaped, would it work?

Mine has the code N333, they one my friend has N327.

What's the difference.

Also, would a S5 ECU work? (meaning, would a 1989 TII ECU work on my 1988 TII for example?).

Really really appreciate any help.

I beleive the S4 will fit any S4 and the sme for the S5 ecu's

But I don't think that the N327 is a TII ECU I beleive that is an N/a ECU number.

But the other answers to this question can be found by going to the top of this page, clicking SEARCH and then typing in the numbers/letter N327 That works even better if you type in N327 on the left and then ICEMARK in the box to the right.

The short of it, is no a N327 will not work in a Turbo. A N327 ECU is for a non turbo.

and No a 89+ ECU will not work in a 86-88 without major rewiring.

Compatibility is the first 2 numbers... such as:

A N332 will work in a car with a N333, N334, N335, N338 etc.

A N326 will work in a car with a N327 N328 etc.

A N370 will work in a car with a N375...

get it yet???

The letter and first two numbers must match for it to be compatible... N33X N32X N35X

You also need to be careful of the impedance swich in mid 88(?),

This shouldn't matter cause the resistor block is downstream of the ECU.&nbsp The ECU will see 10+ ohms no matter what - unless you're crazy to force it to run low impedence with no resistor block!

You can add the N374 to that list as well, if you keep it accurate.

Yeah, I was getting bored of typing... I think I got the idea across.

anyone have a clue what the N318 is ? I have one , it's suppose to be off a Jspec TII but not sure if it's an S$ or S5.. neet to know becuse this is going onto a BRE

I don't want to steal the thread but I'm about to do a S4 Jspec NA conversion and I was wondering how I can tell if I need the injector resistor pack? What would happen if I tried to run the car without them?Burn up injectors?

ecu is from a 13bt and depending on chip # comes with either a 7500 rpm rev limit or none at all
