Ecu question involving spark and fuel

hey guys i was just wondering if i could of fried my ecu while taking it out awhile back and that is why it wont get spark or tell the fuel pump to turn on when i turn the key. i checked the fuel pump and it only runs with a seperate power source and i also checked the spark and no spark ( i put a screw driver in the boot touching the metal and put the screw driver touching the mounts for the A/C bracket ). I heard it is very uncommon for the coil packs to malfunction or cause problems, but i could be wrong. So would my best bet be to buy a used ecu ? By the way it is a 1987 N/a . any help would be great.

anybody ?

Your fuel problem might be due to your circuit opening relay. You could also test your ECU to see if it is sending proper voltage to your injectors as well as to check if they are pulsing properly.

i tried jumping the connector and shit , like everything worked before i removed the ecu ( like the spark and fuel ) , but now it wont, i checked that everything was in place and connected. Would disconnecting the ecu while the battery is still plugged in affect it ? i know i made that mistake once. People here said it is very rare the relay would be the problem

Have you verified that all of the necessary fuses are in working order? Namely the engine fuse, EGI inj and EGI comp fuses. Did you reconnect the ECU with the battery hooked up?

i checked all the fuses and no it was not reconnected while the battery was plugged in .

Check for voltage on the B/Y wire at the coils, and also check the B/W wire at the circuit opening relay. Check fuses and make sure the main relay's working as it should.

Do you have the twin led diagnostic light to pull codes? If you connect it to the diagnostic checker and turn the key to on the lights should at least come on for a couple of seconds before turning off. You could also disconnect the tps to see if the ECU recognizes it.

i think im just going to buy a used ecu , i know everything else works ( i drove it 300 km to get and drove it home ) it only happened when i took out the ecu , so i think i fried it :(
