Eclipse seats fit in FC?
 

Ok... so my friend is parting out his Gen 1 Eclipse GSX... and the seats in it are SOOOO comfy... and they look like they would fit in my FC, but I don't know if they would bolt properly. Does anyone know if they will, or do I have to try trial and error? :) If I need to, I will buy the adjuster/mounting brackets to MAKE them fit, because these seats are much better than the boney stock FC seats. I don't want to go rice yet, and get "Sparco" seats. :rlaugh: ...but since I travel with my FC alot cuz it's my daily, I would like something a bit kinder on my butt. lol

you could make them fit with some custom brackets, but as I recall; the eclipse seats are very very high, and unless you are fairly short, may be too high to sit in a FC comfortably.

Okay... I'll probably just stick one in there to see trial and error then. :bigthumb: Is there somewhere I can get brackets, if not, how do I make them?

Noone would have brackets, you would have to create them your self or have a shop fabricate them.

If you do them yourself, you could probably use some bar steel from home depot and a little welding and drilling.

^ There's always a chance. Problem is, auto manufacturers all use different bolt patterns for seats, model to model, sometimes changing year to year. Very difficult to get one that matches up perfectly from one auto maker to the next.

Well this thread is right up my road. I did try those seats in my FC and they WILL NOT BOLT IN you have to use custom made brackets (sorry for the bad news)

I was going to do this, before I got rid of my first gen eclipse.. The problem was I found brand new-like 91 seats on ebay for 50 bucks that were close enough for pickup, so I never went through with it...

because a mazda and a mitsubishi are completely different cars.

so sparco is rice? i always thought rice seats were more like the 2fast 2furious seat covers from advanced auto parts...

Not anymore likely than a camero seat bolting in.

You do know that Mitsubishi and Mazda are two different companies right???

I'm not that dumb, but I just wasn't sure if they had similar bolt patterns, like wheels have similar lug patterns. ;)

Sure, start getting imaginative ;) to make your life easier, though, grab the rails from someone who is parting out their 7 from the For-Sale section, and fabricate those onto the eclipse seats while you drive your seven, it will most likely take a bit for you to get the alignment perfect :)

sparco seat that ive sat in is very comfortable and extremely supportive, not ricey. whats ricey at my advance auto parts is our type s crap(some of it is ok).

and the passengers seat will always be high, as the Mazda FC seat pan is tweaked to fit into the angle of the floor.

There's something I forgot about. I'm sure you could get most of it taken care of by playing with the seat rails, though. I see aftermarket seats in FCs all the time and don't notice any huge difference...

With aftermarket seats the passengers seat base will always be about 1/2 to 3/4 inchs taller than the drivers, unless you space the drivers seat up as well.

You know, if I keep at this for 15 or so years, I may start to catch up to you, Mark :)

Perkystina - By the way, if you do this, before you secure the new seats to your car, PLEASE make sure you use only Grade 8 Bolts.. don't cheap out and save 40 cents per bolt.. Remember that your seat is VERY important in a crash, and you wouldn't want it coming loose/shearing from the mount.
