Eccentric Shaft bore damage
I damaged my E shaft getting the pilot bearing out. I over bored the e shaft with a die grinder. I pulled the motor out and took it to my builder he said the only thing he can do is pull the motor apart and install a copper sleeve. He is also said it will be fine with out it. I need some incite on this

is it so bad that the pilot bearing isn't even snug?
|
why would you need to pull the engine apart to install a sleeve on the pilot bearing hole? You cannot have possibly grinded so much the new bearing won't be a tight fit anymore, that would require you pretty much oversizing the entre hole (that is unless you drilled it out with a giant bit).

pilot bearing isnt snug and wont go in straight, if i try to tap it in i mess the bearing up
|
at stock power levels it's not do or die. it'll put more wear on your trans main bearing. i'm still trying to think why you would take a grinder to you e-shaft?

get a new shaft w/ good bearing

how do you think factory puts them in? hard words. then they use this http://www.mazdatrix.com/pictures/to...stallToolB.JPG and hit it with a hammer, i use just a hammer to get it started then use a socket to sink it in far enough too install the seal. |
