Ebay filter??

Well I am wanting to mess around with the intake. Anyways I was looking to get the apexi one but my friend is trying to convince me that the cheap $10 ones he found on ebay will work just the same. Now I am posting to see if anyway can help me settle this little dispute lol.

edit: Oh and also instead of making another thread....there have been people who make a cold air box and have a PVC pipe or something similar i think? lead down to catch the cool air.....just curious if anyone knows how much chance there is for water to make it through one of those??

If it works, it works. There was a link that compared Blitz, HKS, Apexi and GReddy, but I don't have it anymore. Perhaps Ted may have saved it.

Ah that would be interesting to see. Was it a post on here or some other webpage? hrmm I wonder if my attempt not to start another thread will work lol

if you ask me the ebay filters flow probably better than the good name brand filters HOWEVER the filtration on the ebay filters is very weak, they will keep large debris out of your engine but they will allow small particles of dust in, so if you go down a severely dusty road, well, you may be hurting your engine.

^ Yep. No filter flows the best. :)

there is an intake you can rig up using a CAI from a prelude. search 'prelude intake' and you should find the threads. just letting one of those cone filters sit in your engine bay is dyno proven to reduce performance. you need fresh air from outside of the engine bay, wich is heat soaked from the motor.

if i were you, i would keep the stock setup.

Or you could just build a box like you just said, that's what I'm doing. I wouldn't trust ebay though, just get a nice moderate intake so you are in the middle ground....you know what I mean?
