Are eBay exhaust manifolds any good?
I have an exhaust gasket leak in my 88 s4 turbo the new gasket
Oem is about 90$ but I can get the entire manifold with gaskets For 120$ is it worth it anyone try them? |
ive used a bunch of ebay manifolds and never had any issues, lots of people talk trash and thats cool but it is what it is. i had one on the fd and also used a couple on some fc cars, may have to match the bolt holes up a little but not a big deal.

90? are you sure? I would not get shit for your car on ebay. China shit is made by people that dont know if their pants are on backwards or not. Americans should be making this stuff. they last longer, Besides China specs are hardly ever correct. IMO. Some people dont care

he didnt say that china was super awesome, he was just making an observation, kinda like, if youve used a product that was questionable and it worked, is it the greatest? no... but will it work? yes.
|
kind of like using old seals on a rebuild, it works fine, ive done it. is it the best idea, no but who cares, dont tell anybody and nobody will know.

yea our food comes from china too. Well just start buying everything from china. Thats where all the Jobs went. From 40 bucks an hour. to people getting paid 50 cents a day.. Yea. Great deal for the owners of the planet that give two SHITS about the US. Fun times ahead
Either way its the greedy americans that want to increase profits so they move their plant to china Blame yourself for wanting everything at a low price. but this is off topic so back to it, ebay manifolds are basically what you pay for. But then again you could be paying more for something made in china but has a logo of a popular brand. |

Does the car have a Stock manifold on it?..YES?,buy an Oem gasket from Mazdatrix(Yup..you are right ,89.95).same with Atkins. http://atkinsrotary.com/store/catalo...p-1-c-738.html It will also last you when you put on a Aftermarket manifold. ..the ones you get with the Ebay crap are just that..compressed thin rolled punched out shit. You could also think about planing the manifold(mill the mating surface flat),but if you are complaining about a 90 dollar gasket, then the extra expense wouldn't seem logical. |
Go buy the stock stainless steel gasket nothing else compares.
The graphite ones suck and burn out instantly and the copper ones do hold up somwhat but still burn out somtimes even melt |
Wow guys, lots of hate for the graphite...
http://www.pineappleracing.com/after...-graphite.aspx "This is our Graphite version of the stock engine to manifold exhaust gasket for the 2nd Generation "FC" RX-7 (Series 4 and 5), turbo and non-turbo, and GSL-SE. High-temp graphite, takes up to 0.040 manifold warpage, which is significantly better than stock." I believe the downside is that it's only meant for one time use. Hence the burn out if you reused it.. Oregon_RX7, give Rob [Pineapple Racing] a call, he's a fountain of information! |
Umm....
If you have a stock TII manifold, and a stock TII turbo, then you can't just get an Ebay exhaust manifold and put it on. The TII flange was a specific flange meant for the HT18 turbo only. So in other words, the T4 flange won't bolt on to your stock turbo, and you'll be left with a NEW decision: Admit defeat and sell the manifold to someone else for a reduced price, or continue on down the path you're going and spend a lot more money on a new turbo with a T4 flange, an external wastegate, downpipe, and other miscellaneous exhaust work stuff to plumb the wastegate, higher flow for the bigger turbo, now you need a bigger injectors, oops, did I mention some sort of fuel management system... it goes on. That is, unless Ebay started selling stock exhaust manifolds that I didn't know about. :) |
