E Brake

i have an 88 turbo 2,
trying to lock up the rear wheels from pulling the E-brake and its not happening, tightened the cable, good brakes.... any ideas? kind of stupid but i figured i'd ask...

pfsantos 03-11-08 03:33 PM

^ ????

The brakes are good you said...so the rear pistons and e-brake lever on the caliper aren't seized, right?

mori9863 03-11-08 09:34 PM

not seized cause when i pull it, it slows down the car, just doesn t lock them up........

TheDarkRacer 03-11-08 09:48 PM

might be a stretched e-break cable, or one caliper might be froze.... dono just guessing.

K!NCH 03-11-08 10:01 PM

Clutch kick.

Okay, did most of this thread get deleted? seriously, just 'cuz we were speaking in Spanish didn't mean it wasn't relavant to the topic at hand. I want to know who had the balls to delete relavant posts from here.

You're not doing it hard enough. You seriously want to learn to drift like that, though? Yay, DORIFTO!!!!! blah. :icon_no2:

Oh, it's like Lil Bow-Wow says in Fast and the Furious Tokyo Drift "I want you to RIP that e-brake" not play with it. not massage it. not wiggle it. RIP that e-brake.

mori9863 03-12-08 02:58 AM

yeah, i'm not a newbie to drifting styles....... i like initiating with e brake rather than clutch kick, thats just my style i guess......... i will check the caliper and switch out the cable i guess..... thanks guys......

SomeGuy_sg 03-12-08 03:56 AM

You can try using a combination of feint and E-brake to initial the drift.

mori9863 03-12-08 04:12 AM

if i dont get the ebrake fixed by the fourth of april, thats what i'm going to have to do ....

TheDarkRacer 03-12-08 06:57 AM

yea i thought my e-brake didnt work, and then was showing my friend while driving.....BAD IDEA!!! deff drifted into a curb. It was fairly nice untill the curb part....
But just pull hard and turn some and it should lock the wheels up.

It was me. It was deleted because it made no sense to native English speakers and was more about the fact that it was in Spanish then in answer to the thread.

rx7fan1903 03-12-08 10:03 AM

this started out as a tech question, but somehow turned into a drift thread....

Fucking awesome!!

Personally, I love e-brake drifting the best. but you can't just tug on it, you gotta seriously pull to shock the drivetrain and lock up the wheels to go sideways!

If you're new to drifting, might i suggest the Drift Bible? Its a DVD and a great resource!

Also, a quick question: people aren't really that fond of power=over drifting but I find it VERY useful, and a lot of fun! Thoughts? Opinions?

kelton89 03-12-08 11:14 AM

Dont you have to push in the clutch.. then pull the ebrake? maybe not. The only time I pull mine is to park.

Roen 03-12-08 11:30 AM

Keep the thread on topic guys, we have a drift section now to discuss drifting. This is the tech section, not the drift section, for a reason.

Chris Boots 03-12-08 12:19 PM

Could be an old stretched cable. Do you have ABS? I have a friend with a GXL with ABS and his e-brake won't lock up like mine will. His will slow the car down but mine will completely lock up the rear end at any speed. Just a thought

Try to check only the cable. Just remove it from the calliper and from the emergency break coupling under the car. The cable that goes to the passenger side was frozed. I replace it with a new cable and problem resolved.

yes you have to put the clutch in to get the rear tires to lock up with the e-brake. if you dont it will just slow the car down.

What about the relevant one that was only half in Spanish? And why do you keep deleting my posts instead of answering? If you're gonna delete my posts, at least man up and explain yourself.

I delete hundreds of posts a day in accordance with rules sticky posted at the top of this forum. Posts are deleted because they are off topic, don't contribute to the thread, are incorrect, are bumps or "me too" posts, are insults or flames or are otherwise in violation of the rules (ie. big signature). If I (as well as the other mods) were to send a PM to everyone whose post was deleted, that would the a huge amount of time.

If you have any more questions, send me a PM so we can avoid further polluting this thread.

Edit...It was another mod deleting your last few posts. The last post was a direct insult so be glad it was just deleted instead of an infraction being issued.

mori9863 03-13-08 08:30 PM

it is a stretched cable......... thanks guys
