drivetrain weight difference TII - N/A

i'm just curious between the weight of a fully dressed t2 motor/tranny/rear end and the weight of its N/A counterpart. the reason is that in the event i decide its time to sink money into a turbo car i'd like to know how many pounds it's going to add.

about 125 lbs, with engine and drive train, not including brakes or suspension or anything like that

Yep. The rear end is considerably heavier for the T2, and the tranny is a bit heavier also. For my N/A -> T2 swap, I figure my lighter aftermarket wheels, aluminum hood, as well as removed accessories and a bit of interior weight reduction should make up for the weight gain from the T2 driveline...

but the weaker part is the tranny right? is the T2 pumpkin a necessity for a T2 swap?

The N/A gearbox is definatly the weakest link in the driveline when it comes to torque...

I blew mine up pretty good on only 4psi :)
