driver side motor mount spins but does nothing

Well i might just be an idiot but ive searched and couldnt find anything. My driver side motor mount nut(the last freaking nut i need to get off after a long long process) wont come loose i got under the car and spun that nut for like 20 min and it didnt do nothing i put a wrench on the top part to prevent the top from spinning but the wrench didnt go nowhere and i spun the bottom nut forever and nothing happened. could anyone help... theres probably something really easy and stupid that im overlooking but if anyone could help it would be greatly appriecated. then i could finally get the motor apart and start the fun stuff.
thanks

It sounds like the stud is spinning in the rubber. Top and bottom are not directly connected. The 'bolt' on the bottom is vulcanized into the rubber when the mount is made. You will probably be able to lift the engine out and end up leaving the bottom chunk of the mount on the car. The other option would be to remove the metal part of the mount from the engine and pull it out that way. If you are just replacing the mount, just try jacking up the engine and see what moves.

well i unscrewed the 2 top nuts and 2 bottom bolts and made a mess( anyone who doesnt know that odd looking bottom bolt is a plug, and when you think you have all the coolant out watch out there might be more) but now i have the damn problem of getting the engine off the trans i got the 5 bolts but the darn things stuck ive read that youve got to wiggle it alittle bit but this shit doesnt wanna come loose. at the top it come loose but the bottem is solid i got the bolt on the bottom on the passenger side. If theres any more bolts i dont know about please help im so close to getting this engine out i can taste it( or maybe thats the coolant i got all over me)

Do you have the starter out, there is one in there.

I always just undo the top nuts on both mounts and remove the engine. The rubber mount stays on the car.

nice pic

I love the thumbs up, its a nice look... hey anyone know if its easier to put the motor in with the tranny attached or with it off... mainly I ask cuz... I don't remember how the tranny bolts go on the engine and they aren't something I wanna f around with when the engine is in.

Phantomkid, Glad to help. As for the install with/without the tranny, I usually pull them together and reinstall together but there is only one stud or bolt that is a real pain with the engine alone going back in. The one on top with the lift hook is a the hard one because of the threads. The rest are pretty easy to figure out, just kind of hold them up to the assembly to see if they look like they would bottom out in the hole you want to put them in.

It is easier to line up the clutch with everything out of the car though.
