drive shaft problems

when i shift what sounds like the drive shaft makes a clunking sound. like its moving back and forth. is it the driveshaft? and what can i do to fix it?

It sounds more like the front diff mount is bad or broken.
Also might want to check the transmission mounts and engine mounts too...

has anybody else had this problem? what did you do?

iceblue 08-16-05 09:57 PM

It sounds like what ReTed said. You replace the mounts

which ones ordo i have to change them all

RETed 08-17-05 06:38 AM

Why don't you inspect them first to see which ones are bad and then replace them?

Does this clunk sound happen at every shift or just when you shift hard? I get the same clunk sound but I figure its just the air line that goes into the cat hitting something (upon inspection I found it real loose).

When the rubber isolator gets old & cracks, the front of the differential can push up & hit the floor.
