Draining coolant
 

I can't for the life of me find the Plug to drain the coolant out of the engine block. I've loked at both the Hayes and Field serivce manuals, and they both show it kind of down below the spark plugs, I can't find it from below, or above.

It's on the driverside above a motor mount.

It's actually in the drivers side engine mount. Look right below the oil filler and dipstick, and you'll see a long hex bolt between the two metal walls of the mount. That's the drain plug.

That's probably why I missed it, I was looking above or below the engine mount.

Do you need to unscrew it form the top then?

I got it from the top. Just be careful. When I did it, there was a bit of pressure so when I got it all the way unscrewed the pressure shot the bolt somewhere and it took me about 30min of looking to find it again.

I Don't have to worry about the heater core do I? the manuals only mention draining the engine and radiator, but I know some cars you have to draing the heater core seperately, we don't have to worry about that, right?

I didn't worry about it. In fact I don't think I've ever heard about that concerning our cars.

I went to change my coolant the other day, and I took off the drain plug off the block and nothing came out. Is this normal? My coolant level was full too. I never did get around to draining it all out cause I stripped out the drain plug on the bottom of the radiator. Oh well shit happens.:D

Errmmm, you have pressure in your cooling system, so you must take of your cap and open wide the heater settings from inside the car. That way you can drain as much coolant as possible...
