Drag Racing Time???
I'm racing my seven tomorrow and all weekend. What kind of times should I be expecting from my few mods?
I'm going to run off the header....nice and loud, hehe Plus I put on 245/60/15's to hook up better too. Should I burn out to warm them up like everyone else does to get better traction? Any input would be interesting before I take off in like 5 hours. It's a 3 hour drive to the event and I can't sleep. Thanks |
I usually dont warm up the tires or anything. At most, if they have rocks in them or something, spin them a little to clean them. Then I usually launch at about 4000, and just let the clutch out. I have got consistent 2.35 60' times this way.

So maybe a low 16 at most huh?
The thing I don't get is how stock is like 16.8 seconds? |
Depending on the weather, you should pull low 16's. Just make sure to get a decent launch, dont ease off the line. These cars dont have crap for tq. You need to rev and dump the clutch.

If it's your first time ever... i'd say 16.3
Fix your 6-ports : 15.9 Learn to drive decently : 15.7 |
Dre 2000, where is he getting the power to pull those times from? Does the header really do that much for these cars?

In pist-0ns, the power has no exhaust to slow it down, except from the OTHER cylinders, and the effect isn't that great. So on a 4-banger you might see like 5hp from headers. But on a rotary you can expect a 10-15% increase in power. Mazdatrix sells a FULL exhuast system that got 26% DYNO-PROVEN increase in HP. So, yes, headers really do "add that much" :). Here is my logic to his times: stock = 16.5 +intake = 16.45 +headers = 16.0 +driver skill = 15.9 +pulley = 15.87 +tires = 15.8 % error = 15.6-15.85 -6 ports = 16.2 - driver skill = 16.4 % error = ~ 16.2-16.4 |
Wow, then I need to get my header on my car asap. Its just sitting in my shed, with its header wrap on, and high temp black coating on it. I would like to see my times improve .2 from the header alone. That would rule! :D
