downpipe fitment issues
alright, i have a 89 turbo 2, just put in a jspec 13b, and swapped my motor and trans mounts for banzai racing urethane ones. i put a corksport downpipe with presilencer eliminator and a cat eliminator pipe on. the cat pipe comes within 5cm of the drive shaft. its like the motor sits too high from urethane mounts, or the downpipe is no good and has a bad angle. it kind of angles more upwards than going straight back...anyone had this problem before? thanks,

Our mounts are the same height as stock mounts. So I guess the first question is... Do you have the mounts installed correctly?
Then there are heat shields between the exhaust and the driveshaft, so I will have to guess that those are removed. Do you have the cat replacement pipe orientated properly? |
If my metric conversion is correct 5cm equals 2 inches, this does not seem very close.
|
sorry, 5mm.. i thought the engine mounts need to be tightened, but after that, the cat pipe touches the driveshaft now..and it doesnt matter which way the cat pipe goes...both ways touch and there are only two ways..
|
I would swap out the cat pipe and put the stock cat back on. then try to reinstall the DP/cat. if you still have fitment issues then I'd start looking at the mounts or DP.
Did you try fitting the DP before swapping motor mounts? |
no i just got a jdm 13bt and i bought alot of aftermarket things to put on..i'll try the stock cat but it looks like the downpipe angles upwards already.. engine mounts installed correctly...
|
honestly i would take a good look at the DP, does any of your friends have any DP's you can kinda compair the angles in the pipe?
|
well i put the old downpipe on, with presilencer, and the thing fits perfect.. compared the two and found the corksport downpipe has a bad angle at the end.. so now to cut and weld. thanks everyone.

Maybe you should contact Corksport and let them know they are shipping defective products.
