Door Speakers?

So I have my door panel off. There's a plug that I can't for the life of me figure out what it went to.

It's got light green wires in it and has two pins. One is light green with black stripe and one is light green with red stripe. 9I think, have to double check.)

It goes to the center of the door near where it looks like a speaker cutout is... Although my car is an S4. I don't think I've ever seen an S4 with door mounted speakers.

Would be awesome to fit a 6" round in there.

LG/R and LG/B are the two wire colors for driver's side door speaker.

My convertible has door speakers for sure. Goes right behind the door pull, above the window switch.

My S4 got door mounted speakers originally :)

The brown one in the pic is not the original one. In my car it sat 6.5" 140W peak speakers from Kenwood, dunno if they were there from the beginning, but they sure blasted when they were new!

Excellent. Convertible door panels interchange with Coupes?

RotaryRocket88 12-02-10 02:38 PM

Yeah, I think they will. But what about the mounting location in the door itself? I can't remember ever taking the door panels off in my coupe, but convertibles have a round metal bracket to hold a 6 - 6.5" speaker.

Just get door panels off of a later GXL, or Turbo model. They have the smaller door speakers.

Does the S5 panels fit the S4 (with some cutting for speaker hole ofc)? They look better, and have the speaker in a better spot for a mid tone, without having my hand touching the speaker all the time (cant have anything over mine, to tight)

S5 door panels are a direct swap.

As far as speaker position goes, I think The S5's had 6.5" speakers in the door. The map pockets were different than the s4 ones which allowed for the speaker in the lower front portion of the door. Or you can get the panels off of a GTU without pockets and just a speaker grille.

I will take a look @ mazdarotaryclub.com, see if any Brits got something for me :D So I dont have to cut through my door to get it good looking.

i have a decent set of s5 door panels in blue (leather, out of a vert) if you wanted to take a look at em pele. i had them in my car for a while, but wanted to go back to the originals. the only difference between the coupe and vert is a little cutout for the support that goes between the 2 windows thats hardly noticeable. it goes right along the window seal.
as for the speakers, you will have to do some cutting to get speakers to fit in the s4 doors, which is why i scrapped the idea and just stuck with the originals.

this is a pretty old pic of my car, its when i had the s5 vert panel in. you can barely see the cutout in the top right corner of the pic.
