door speaker question
i just put my pioneer radio in my car and the door speakers dont work. i did a search to see if i can find anithing about it but no luck. i looked on the FAQS and it said that white wire for amp turn on but theres no ampand it works with the factory radio. so why they dont work?
BTW is a 90 GTU. thanks |
the factory radio didn't power the speakers. there were actually 4 external amps that each powered one speaker.
I haven't done this myself (ran new wires from new external amps to new speakers) but I have read that you can bypass the factory amps by connecting the two harness plugs together directly. basically the factory amp has the harness from the radio go into it and then the harness continues on its way to the speaker.....cut out the middle man |
Run your own wires.

I kept the Mazda amps.
I believe the door bass amp has a low pass filter. I just lit the amp on signal with the power antenna lead. Now all I need is some dynamat. |
so the doors peakers have amps on them, and is triggered by the power antenna cable? that what you saying sureshot?

Sorry to hijack but it kinda fits in.
If the antenna is not up, will the radio not turn on? Thanks Jordan |
Have you looked at the wiring diagrams? It's all pretty clear in there.
|
No I haven't looked at wiring diamgrams. I'm new to this stuff and don't really know how to read them. I spent some time looking for a good website to explain it, but couldn't really find one. Where would be a good place to look?
Thanks Jordan |
You'll never understand this properly if you have no idea what the system even looks like. Reading wiring diagrams is not hard, and it's a vital skill if you want to be able to repair/modify/improve your car yourself.
For S5 wiring diagrams go here. |
Any links to diagrams for the S4?
