door open and interior light always on
Got a problem that the door open light, dome light and a couple of warning buzzers are always on when the key is in the ignition. THIS IS NOT A PROBLEM WITH THE DOOR SWITCHES! Sorry to shout, but that simplistic solution has been thrown at me many times. I had tracked this down once before to a subsiduary switch to the ignition which I am sure I recall was also mounted on the steering column assembly somewhere close to the ignition switch, but I cannot now find the reference.
Problem the two is terrible cold starting which lets the beast rev up to about 1500 for a minute or so, but then starts "hunting" like mad - i.e. it is going rooom, rooom, rooom, and giving mini backfires instead of a steady high rev cold idle - once warm it settles down to a reasonably steady 750 - 800 warm idle. Should I be looking at the cold start switch? possibly the BAC? - the plugs are clean, air cleaner is good and main air control seem to be OK - has a fairly new 02 sensor and passed the last emmission test. Car is a bone stock 87 N/A GX. |

if you tracked the door problem down to an extra switch at the column, why did you post that problem again?

You have a short to ground somewhere between the lights & the door switches.
I have no idea what a switch in the steering column would do for the room lights. Was this ever a cop car? |
