Door molding repair?

1 Attachment(s)
Morning!

I have this part of my door molding peeling off but I'm not sure how i can fix it.

Anyone have any tips for me?

and yes - my car is very dirty.

remove it completely, clean ALL THE OLD GLUE AND TAPE OFF, really clean it good.
buy new body side molding tape and apply as directed.

if you do not clean it good, it will peel off again and stick out

+1 to the above. Moulding also isn't cheap either.

Mine did the same thing. Rather than totally remove it, I used Gorilla glue and a spreader clamp between the trim piece and my garage wall. The key is sustained pressure until the glue sets.

be very careful when removing. I managed to snap one pulling it as I have thousands of mouldings (never snapped one before, im a panel beater so it's just typical it broke on my own car. as well as double sided tape a small blob of urethane adhesive at intervals down the moulding should ensure it won't come off. I say small incase you need it off at some point.

Heat gun or a hot summer day. Girlfriends trim on one side was broken exactly the same was as the OP. One day it was completely lying on the ground in an S shape from it slowly peeling itself off the car. Tossed it inside the car on the seat, and the S shape is REALLY pronounced now. I love the S4 trim, but what was Mazda thinking when they choose the material?:icon_tdow

I stored my s4 trim in the car when i painted it, it also always had a slight curve to it from sitting like that. MUST store it flat. Keep it flat in the sun a few days to try to get it back to normal, no amount of heat gun works.

Hi guys.

I noticed my plastic is actually warped on that trim piece. Would I be better off getting another one and just replacing it?

You could clean it and let it sit on a flat surface out in the hot sun for a few hours. The trim becomes more rubber-like when it warms up, and then you can attach it to the car with 3M trim tape. However, yours is cracked, so you need a new one.

Haha, my driver's door snapped in the exact same place, though, it did start from the back and got about halfway unglued before breaking.
It's like $105 before shipping from MazdaTrix, just checked, used to be like $180 a couple months ago.
