Door Handle is Electric??? IDK??? Also sticks...

I just broke my other door handles so i decided to get "new" ones off a 88 rx. So after pulling them off i noticed two wires that mine did not have. Ive searched threads but cant find one saying what this is. Is this power door locks? If so what can i do to make these work?

here's a picture of the electric part:

ALSO...the door handle on the drivers side sticks and wont turn to unlock very well. What can i do/ adjust to make this problem go away?

thanks...Phil

those two wires are for the light that is in the lock so you can see the slot at night but almost never work on a 20+ year old car just replace your door handle with new ones wont be a problem:icon_tup:

Mine works!

...but it's not bright enough to see anything anyway.

Those wires go to my stock security system on my 88 RX7... They didn't have light up key holes on the SE's. But it does have the security system and that exact handle style with the two wires and all. I'm pretty sure that those wires go to a solenoid that is activated when you turn the key to unlock which in turn tells the security system that you are unlocking the door from the outside and that you are dis arming the system. I forgot to plug those two wires in one time and my security light just stayed on and the system wouldn't work until I plugged those two wires back in.

I believe they go to the security. Look at it closer, do you see a light bulb? If no (the light bulb is obvious) then I'm positive that it goes to the security system.

first off, thats the passanger's side, i have never seen the light on a passanger's side handle before, only the drivers. 2ndly you can see it's a momentary switch so yeah
security FTW!

What are you talking about? Of course it's the driver side. If you flip it over the lock would be on the right side.

WHAT are YOU talking about? it's also upside down, as the hinges go at the top, and the studs for the nuts go at the bottem.

do you doubt my SUPERIOR knowledge?!??! JK :P

Gah. My bad. I didn't even notice the hinges.

I bow down before your obvious greatness and multitude of neural connections.

 :D

so since my car doesnt even have the security system these wires are basically useless? well okay. I got my hopes up and thought they were electric locks...damn :[

and i fixed the locking and unlocking problem...turns out the "plastic flapper" fell inside (in pieces) and you couldn't fit the key in. I re-keyed the lock and bam! works like a charm!

thanks guys :)

you don't have a security system? Weird all my sales brochures say "Security system stock on all models" hmm Good news on the lock man
