Doing a T2 drivetrain swap

Hey guys, my transmission is starting to die. I am thinking about swapping my NA drivetrain into a T2 drivetrain. I have done some research. Here is what I will need. I have a 90 GXL

1. 89-91 Transmission
2. Clutch slave cylinder and the hydralic hose
3. Clutch,flywheel
4. Driveshaft
5. T2 Differential
6. T2 half shafts
7. Starter

Here are my questions

I know I can use the slave cylinder and hose driveshaft from the 87-88 Turbo. How about the differential and half shafts? Would I be able to use the ones off the 87-88 since they are a lot cheaper. Easier to find. I know the starter is out of the question. Also are the wirings the same between the 89+ NA tranmission to the 89+ Turbo tranny?

Thanks

Tom,
Read the PM I sent you. If you come by my house next weekend we can go over everything you'll need.

Tom,

Im in the middle of a similar project right now. Im installing a turbo motor into an 86 gxl, using an NA drivetrain. I have lots of turbo parts lying around so I compared stuff while I had it all out.

You can use your NA slave cylinder with the turbo tranny. I compared them side by side and there is no difference. I can take a pic if you'd like, I still have these parts.

The trans wiring for all 86-91 trans, turbo or non, is the same.

The halfshafts are the same, 87-91.

The rearends are the same xternally, 87-91. The 87-8 use a clutch-type LSD, the 89-91 use viscous type lsd. I have used them in place of one another with no noticeable difference.

THe DS is the same.

You'll HAVE to use the flywheel from an 89-91 T2. The 87-8 t2 wheel is the same size, but it is weighted/balanced differently.

You can use clutch parts fom any 87-91 T2.

The starter is the same for 87-91, so you can use an older one as well.
